Well-functioning international, multi-modal transport systems are necessary preconditions for trade and have a favourable impact on the business and investment climate of countries and their economic development. Trade is a major factor for prosperity and stability. Over the years, the OSCE has addressed issues related to transport facilitation and security.

Good governance of the public and private sectors leads to a maximization of economic benefits in a globalized economy and accelerates economic transition. The Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) works to enhance security and stability in the OSCE region by, among other things, promoting international co-operation on economic issues, strengthening good governance and assisting participating States in combating corruption, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Effective labour migration management is an integral part of good economic governance. The Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) supports participating States in developing and strengthening comprehensive and effective migration policies as a key contributing factor to security, stability and growth.

Money is a necessary element of any political process. However, corruption in political financing poses risk for the democracy and countries’ economic systems. Politically exposed persons, given their access to state resources and decision-making power, are prone to corrupt activities. Combating and preventing corruption requires a protection of a strong system of regulations and integrity mechanisms.

The purpose of this Guide is to provide basic guidelines for further steps in the process of comprehensive regulation of the area of information security in Serbia. The study is intended for decision makers: for representatives of the relevant state institutions, as support to efforts directed at regulation of the area of information security in Serbia, but also for representatives of the private sector, academic community and civil society interested in this field. The Guide is produced in co-operation with the CSO the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies, in the scope of the larger project related to security sector reform, implemented by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

The OSCE Office in Tajikistan has established a nationwide network of 18 Women’s Resource Centres to protect victims of domestic violence and to support them in becoming independent through education and developing skills.

This paper updates The Death Penalty in the OSCE Area: Background Paper 2015. It is intended to provide a concise update to highlight changes in the status of the death penalty in OSCE participating States since the previous publication and to promote constructive discussion of this issue. It covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 31 March 2016.

Bringing together 323 parliamentarians from across the 57-nation OSCE region, including Europe, Asia and North America, the OSCE PA provides a forum for parliamentary dialogue, leads election observation missions, and strengthens international co-operation to uphold commitments on political, security, economic, environmental and human rights issues.

On 23 October 2015 in Astana, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana jointly with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies held an international conference entitled “Accomplishments and Challenges for the OSCE on the Anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act (1975) and the Astana Summit (2010)”. This compendium, which includes presentations given at the conference by both Kazakhstan’s and foreign participants, explores a broad range of topics related to the OSCE’s main areas of focus, as well as current international security and regional co-operation issues. The edition will be of interest to political scientists, international relations experts, civil servants, scholars, educators, university-level students, and broad sections of the public interested in the contemporary development of the OSCE.
