The social re-use of confiscated assets was the focus of three training events held by the OSCE and the Center for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The events were held on May 13 (Sarajevo), 16 (Tuzla) and 17 (Banja Luka). The 80 participants from civil society organizations had the opportunity to reflect on how they can contribute to the fight against organized crime and corruption and discussed which mechanisms civil society can effectively use to implement projects on social re-use.

On 18-19 May, the OSCE Programme Office (POiB) kicked-off a series of capacity-building activities, within its programmatic efforts to support peacebuilding activities in Kyrgyzstan. The workshop, which was held in Osh city, focused on strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s early warning and conflict prevention institutions, including within the framework of implementing the national civic integration concept “Kyrgyz Jarany” (“Kyrgyz Citizen”).

The Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) concluded a two-day workshop on social reuse of assets confiscated from organized crime, held on 23 and 24 February 2022 in Sarajevo.

Dominique Waag, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro and Judge Vesna Vučković, Acting President of the Supreme Court, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 7 February 2022.

On 15 December 2021 in Nur-Sultan, Volker Frobarth, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan and Nail Akhmetzakirov, Head of the Department for Provision of Courts’ Activity under the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the extra budgetary project on Improving the Effectiveness of the Justice System in Kazakhstan.

An OSCE-supported online Forum of Defense Lawyers concluded on 19 November 2021. The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan in co-operation with the Republican Collegium of Advocates and the Legal Policy Research Centre.

The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) organized a roundtable discussion on the harmonization of case law and judicial practice for senior judges in BiH, on 6 December 2021 in Sarajevo. The event was aimed at improving legal certainty and equality of citizens before the law. It was organized in co-operation with the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and the Council of Europe.
