OSCE assists the Government of Tajikistan with disinfectant and medical equipment

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe handed over medical and disinfection equipment to partners in the Tajik government, in Dushanbe, for preventing the potential spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Committee of Emergency Situation and Civil Defence received the assistance on 21 and 24 April 2020, respectively.

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe organized a three-day training seminar for officers of the Drugs Control Agency of Tajikistan (DCA) from 7 to 9 April 2020 in Dushanbe. The course trained participants on how to protect human rights and promote gender aspects in the daily work of law enforcement agencies. Some 25 young officers from DCA participated. This initiative was part of a 15-day special training for young employees of the DCA, who recently started their career in the law enforcement sector.
OSCE supports roundtable discussion on combating corruption in Tajikistan

A roundtable event to discuss the implementation of the recommendations within the 4th round of monitoring of the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan took place on 12 March 2020 in Dushanbe. The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
OSCE and UN Office on Drugs and Crime train Tajik officials to disrupt terrorist financing

A four-day training course on disrupting the financing of terrorist networks concluded on 28 February 2020 in Dushanbe. The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, in co-operation with UN Office on Drugs and Crime’s Regional Office for Central Asia and the OSCE Secretariat’s Transnational Threats Department/Action against Terrorism Unit organized the course.
OSCE Programme Office launches EU-funded project on Green Border Protection and Emergency Response

On 1 January 2020, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe launched a EUR 3.3 million project on the “Stabilization of Tajikistan’s southern border region with Afghanistan”, funded within the framework of the European Union’s Foreign Policy Instrument. The 18-month project aims to increase the professional capability of the Tajik and Afghan Border Services in order to better tackle illicit activities in border areas.
OSCE mitigates disaster risks in Tajikistan by clearing flow channels

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe provided logistical support enabling Tajikistan’s Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defence (CoESCD) of the Shahritus district, in partnership with local government and the Water Management of Lower Kafirnigan basin, to clear 45,900 m3 of soil and other debris from flow channels in three rural villages of the Shahritus district in the Khatlon region. Over 620 households, schools and highways were secured.

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, together with Tajikistan’s Institute for Public Administration, organized a training for representatives of the state judiciary and public institutions dealing with corruption issues from 18 to 20 December 2019. Participants were familiarized with the newly developed anti-corruption curriculum for civil servants. The curriculum will help to further drive anti-corruption efforts in the country; with the aim of building a professional and knowledgeable public administration.
